Some great photographic examples of ‘freezing the action’

Digital cameras today can capture photographic images that we could only dream of in the not too distant past, so that now, even the amateur photographer is able to capture some sublime images.

Just look online at websites such as Flickr to see what I mean. Of course, the person behind the camera adds the creative and artistic qualities to the photo, but once you have these qualities then a good camera is essential, and there are plenty of good digital cameras on the market at almost any price range.

Below is a selection of images that caught my eye that required fast shutter speeds (or flash).

My thanks to those people from Flickr’s ‘creative commons’ who allowed their photo’s to be shared.

On 16 May 2006, Flickr updated its services from beta to “gamma”, along with a design and structural overhaul. According to the site’s FAQ, the term “gamma”, rarely used in software development, is intended to be tongue-in-cheek to indicate that the service is always being tested by its users, and is in a state of perpetual improvement.-‘
